The Basecamp Maasai Brand (BMB) was born in 2003 with a vision to preserve Maasai artistry and empower women in the Talek region of the Maasai Mara. Through the collaboration of Saruni Basecamp and the Basecamp Explorer Foundation Kenya, this initiative began as a humble effort to create sustainable livelihoods. Today, it thrives with nearly 200 artisans, crafting vibrant Maasai jewellery and leatherwork that blends tradition and modernity.
Every bead tells a story—of identity, love, and culture. At BMB, Maasai women reclaim their craft, reinforcing their roots while sharing their heritage with the world. Guests staying at Basecamp Masai Mara can visit the BMB workshop at the Enjoolata Centre, where this inspiring journey unfolds daily.
