Saruni Mara is a small, luxury lodge in the Masai Mara, with 5 cottages, 1 family villa and 1 private villa. It is located in a secluded valley in one of the most exciting wildernesses in Africa – the Mara North Conservancy. This is an exclusive community-owned wildlife conservancy bordering the world-renowned Masai Mara National Reserve. The access to the conservancy is reserved to its selected members, which guarantees privacy and exclusivity. The lodge is on a hill overlooking the Mara plains, surrounded by an indigenous forest where wildlife abounds. The beautiful cottages and villas are each decorated to a unique theme with a luxurious, classic safari feel. Evenings are spent around the fire, sharing each other the exciting adventures of the day. The lodge is a pioneer in community-based conservation and tourism and has a great team, famous for their skills, warmth and hospitality. Saruni Mara has 5 cottages, 3 x doubles and 2 x twin rooms (that can become double), each ensuite, a family villa and a private villa, for a total capacity of 18 guests. All cottages and villas have fantastic views over the surrounding hills and the Mara plains below. They are carefully furnished in a personal, elegant way with unique objects of classic style that evoke the golden days of African safaris. Cottages and villas are all very spacious, each cottage and villa has a different theme and all allow private dining, if required. They have verandas, and roofs made of African hand-made “makuti” tiles.

In addition to holding professional guiding qualifications, our guides are the proud custodians of this incredible wilderness, and whose ancestors have known this area as their home for centuries.

Unique warrior programme

Our ‘Warriors Academy’ experience gives you the chance to spend a few days learning the survival skills of the renowned Maasai warriors. They will share this knowledge with you in much the same way that they would teach a junior warrior, and you will learn to track animals and craft tools on the plains of the Masai Mara. This immersive experience is a particularly exciting activity for families with children.
