Reteti is the world’s first community-owned elephant sanctuary, run entirely by members of the Samburu community in Namunyak Conservancy. The sanctuary rescues orphaned and abandoned elephant calves from across Northern Kenya and cares for them until they are ready to return to the wild.
Visitors are paired with a keeper for the visit, who shares insight into the rescue and rehabilitation work at Reteti. From a viewing platform, you can watch the young elephants come in from their daily walk to receive their milk bottles, a highlight for guests of all ages.
