Nestled within the Masai Mara ecosystem, Lemek Conservancy spans over 7,600 hectares of pristine wilderness, rich in wildlife year-round.

This private conservancy plays a vital role in the Mara, serving as a crucial wildlife corridor and sanctuary for key species like elephants, lions, and the endangered Maasai giraffe.

Lemek Conservancy is co-managed by Saruni Basecamp in partnership with the local Maasai community. Approximately 500 landowners, many of whom are also staff members of Saruni Basecamp, contribute to the success of the conservancy. This unique collaboration fosters a sustainable relationship between conservation, tourism, and the community, ensuring the protection of the land and wildlife while benefiting the local Maasai people.

Year-Round Wildlife Viewing
Lemek Conservancy boasts exceptional wildlife viewing all year, thanks to its open grassland savannah and proximity to the Mara River. Big cats, including leopards, are often spotted here, as they favour the dotted trees along the riverbanks.

Exclusive Off-Reserve Safari Experiences
Unlike many areas within the Masai Mara, Lemek Conservancy offers unique off-reserve safari activities such as night game drives, off-road wildlife viewing, and nature walks. These experiences allow guests to explore the wilderness in a more intimate and less crowded setting.

Prime Location During the Great Migration
During the annual wildebeest migration, Lemek becomes a hotspot for wildlife. The conservancy serves as a refuge for migrating animals and the predators that follow them, offering an up-close view of one of nature’s most awe-inspiring events.

Sustainable Tourism and Low Impact
To protect its pristine environment, Lemek limits the number of visitors by capping the number of beds available in the conservancy. With only two accommodations, including Saruni Wild, the conservancy ensures an exclusive and low-impact safari experience.
