We’re excited to share that Basecamp Explorer Kenya won the 2023 “Best Eco-Friendly Company” award at the prestigious ceremony hosted by The International Ecotourism Society (TIES) in Egypt. Basecamp Explorer proudly stood as the sole nominee representing Kenya in this prestigious competition.

In this category, Basecamp was praised for leading the way in sustainable travel. We are committed to protecting nature, and even small actions can make a big difference, like saving trees and supporting similar eco-friendly businesses and groups. This award recognizes our strong commitment to environmentally friendly tourism and how we positively impact the environment and local communities.

Basecamp has a rich history of wildlife conservation and community development in the greater Masai Mara region. Our efforts have led to the planting of over 300,000 trees in the Talek Region, contributing significantly to carbon absorption and environmental preservation. Moreover, we champion various community-based initiatives, including the Basecamp Maasai Brand—a workshop empowering underprivileged Maasai women while preserving the cherished Maasai beading tradition. Additionally, we are proud sponsors of the Wildlife Tourism College of Maasai Mara (WTC), serving as a hub for education, conservation, and community development, as well as a program that ensures access to clean water for local villages, among other endeavors.
