Saruni Basecamp Renovating to Serve

We’ve got some exciting weeks ahead of us at Saruni Basecamp, as some of our safari camps and lodges are reopening just in time for the migration season after undergoing major renovations.

These improvements have been designed to enhance every aspect of our guests’ stay, with a focus on elevating guest service, comfort, and product quality for an exceptional experience. Here’s what’s new at Saruni Eagle View, Saruni Mara, and Saruni Rhino.

Saruni Eagle View

The newly refurbished Saruni Eagle View will take your breath away with its stunning split-level tents. The upper level features more spacious luxurious bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms. For relaxation, soak in the elegant sunken bathtub with open views overlooking the expansive Naboisho plains.

Newly added is the lower level, featuring a lounge area, which houses a relaxation area complete with a daybed that can also serve as an extra bed. Soak up the sun and enjoy panoramic views of the stunning savannah from the privacy of your extended sun deck.

The social areas have also received a major revamp, including a new swimming pool and bar area, the perfect spot to unwind and socialize with fellow adventurers. In the evening, gather around the newly built fireplace under starlit skies to share stories of the day’s wildlife encounters. Completing the renovation is the inviting reception area, featuring a new curio shop with unique souvenirs and trinkets.

Saruni Mara

Experience safari redefined as Saruni Mara receives a modern upgrade. The entire lodge will gain from layered thatched roofing, infusing a touch of traditional charm that seamlessly blends with the natural surroundings. The interiors will be given a fresh gloss over while fixtures and furniture are upgraded to enhance the guest’s experience.

The social areas have been thoughtfully redesigned, featuring a new dining, bar, and serving area, decked with polished terrazzo floors. New window and door fixtures have been added to provide warmth and privacy; they can be opened outwards to extend the dining area and provide an alfresco dining experience. In the evening, unwind by the newly built second fireplace or enjoy a private dinner in the new mezzanine dining area.

Saruni Rhino

Saruni Rhino, located in the pristine Samburu wilderness, will see its bandas’ interiors given a fresh gloss over, in addition to having new furniture and furnishings in place, increasing the camp’s efficiency and enhancing guests’ experience.

Additionally, we are glad to announce that on-foot rhino tracking will resume when the camp reopens. This exclusive safari camp offers diverse safari activities, including the first on-foot black rhino experience in East Africa. This incredible walking safari provides a thrilling adventure with up-close views of wildlife and the opportunity for guests to actively participate in protecting these iconic species. Guests can look forward to tracking both black and white rhinos, after the addition of four white ones to the original twenty black rhinos.

We can’t wait to welcome you back to our newly renovated camps and lodge for an unforgettable safari experience. Stay tuned for more updates and book your stay with us to witness these incredible transformations firsthand!
